My cancer journey begins with the 2021 100k in 30 days! I was turning 49 that year and thinking of my late mother who was diagnosed with breast cancer at 49. I wanted to do something in her memory and was so proud to raise money for such an important cause. Little did I know a few months later I would be diagnosed with the same cancer as my mother at the same age. Thankfully my mother had made myself and my sisters promise that we would get yearly mammograms and breast checks after turning 30 and my cancer was found early - when it was only 1.5mm and hadn't embedded. After intense treatment and surgery I am happy to say I'm cancer free and it's all thanks to my mothers legacy. Unfortunately my mother wasn't so lucky and lost her journey at the age of 54. My story only has a different ending thanks to the advancements made in cancer research and that's why it is so important to me to raise as much funds as possible. Thanks for reading - know you're breasts and check your breasts ladies!
